Name: The Common Grill
Location: Downtown Chelsea, MI
Meal: Lunch
Server: Clint
History: We were driving around the country side near Ann Arbor taking pictures of the Winter Wonderland and needed to stop for lunch. The Common Grill was recommended by a local so we stopped to give it a try.
Menu: The menu was simple, but well laid out. We both saw several things we wanted to try and had difficulty narrowing it down to one. Many of the dishes described sounded enticing. This was to be our main meal of the day so we didn't mind, but things were on the pricier side.
Food: We both ordered off of their lunch menu. I had the Goat Cheese Ravioli and Chris chose the Grilled Chicken Fettucini. The bread served was incredibly fresh and soft with a sweet poppyseed glaze. We both chose to have a House Salad with our meal and I aked to substitute their Citrus Vinaigrette. The salads were fresh with high quality ingredients. We both found our entrees to be tasty and appropriately light considering the lunch hour, however we both felt they were a bit bland and could have used an extra punch. Both portions were perfect for a lunch as well.
Atmosphere: The grill had a great open design but still managed to keep the noise down so that conversation was possible. The walls had great paintings of the town from the days past that contrasted well with the new industrial and modern applicances. We were actually pleasantly surprised to find such a great modern atmosphere in an older quaint country town.
Total Cost: $6 (after tax and tip)
Conclusion: 4 stars
